Self is like a stone by the river Ganges

We are similar to stones lying along the river Ganges. The great river of energy, which only knows to flow, flow and flow. And in its flow, the river creates , sustains and destroys various waves, which are nothing but its manifestation. The waves of the river create the physical and sub-conscious worlds that we live in as humans. The manifestations in this river of energy changes form and name as often and as easily as you can blink your eye lid.
In a flash pure becomes impure, a righteous person becomes devilish, in a flash Masters and Gods appear and disappear. In a flash water vanishes into ether, in a flash fire appears from the ether and consumes all matter. Energy only changes forms and names, but remains as what it is.
Their is no permanence in these manifestation of the energy. Human body, intellect, mind, thoughts and desires are also part of this great river. And as they are manifestations of the river, they also have no permanence. A body which has taken birth, grows and then decays. So also is the flow of the mind, which originates from nowhere in form of a idea or thought, fully attracts the observers attention for some time and then vanishes in to some thing. Our thoughts are the waves of the mind, which flows continuously. They can’t be stopped, for their nature is to flow.
The only thing which is not a manifestation of the eternal river of energy is the observer in you. The observer is not part of the river. It cannot be. For if it was part the river then, its nature should also be to flow continuously. Weather your parents die, you loose a well payed job or your partner leaves you. Why should you feel sad, why don’t you say ” I have had enough time with my parents now, its time to part ways”.
In the world of flow the observer is constantly seeking permanence.
The feeling of permanence is intrinsic to the SELF. It is the very nature of the STONE, which is lying by the river Ganges. When the stone identifies with the river or its waves , it almost instantly becomes the water of the river or the manifested. And as manifested it follows certain laws i.e. of birth, growth and death. At First, the stone ( observer) enjoys to be the water and its nature of flow. But even in the experience of being the manifested and being the flow, it searches for permanency. Permanency of happiness, permanency of form, names, permanency of pleasure, permanency of relationships, permanency of concepts and belief systems.
Every time a wave ( of form and name) arises in this river of energy, the observer feels that this wave could be the one the observer is searching for. This wave could take the form of your lover , whom you never meet. This wave could be in the form of a Guru whom you have been always waiting for. These waves arise for the observer all the time and every time, until it identifies its self with water of the river.
When the observer is totally dejected and anguished in its search for permanency in a ever changing world. In a flash some thing happens. The Observer sees its self AS IT IS . It realizes that its not the water of the river, but a stone lying by the banks of the the river.
This stone never moves, its totally different from water, it has no journey, it never had a start or destination, it does not have to seek any thing, for IT IS. In fact even when it thought that it was the water of the river, it sort only ITSELF (the permanence aspect).
Our SELF never moves or changes, it is the only thing that is permanent!
WHAT IS!
